M M M M M Music

Today for music the grade 8's had to do the piano test, while the grade 7's practiced. We each got a chance to practice and then we had to do it for real. It was pretty simple to do. The grade 8's who weren't doing the test were either sitting down and listening, or just talking to each other doing what they were doing. We were looking through the small window in room C to see what they were up to. Then Kaitlyn turned around and saw us. We then had to sit down and behave... It was the best music class ever, we barely had to do anything! Then 2 minutes before the bell we had to go to the library because Ms. Scalisi had to make an announcement and couldn't leave us without an adult. It was a very good music class.

Science is the best!!

Today at 4th period we had science with Mz. Coulter. It was awesome, we were learning about sperm and how that one little cell had all of the male's genetic information, and how the female egg had all the female information. The female's code is XX and the male's is XY. We were talking about how people turn out how they are from their parents. So if someone had blue eyes, yet both your parents had green eyes, you could still get blue eyes because the DNA is still in your family. We also were told how twins were made and that we each had 5 genetic mistakes. Not physically though. If you hook up with someone that has the same missing genes as you( which is about 1 and a 3 000 000 chance) then your baby will not have that missing gene at all.

Today...

Today was a normal kind of day, nothing interesting happened. We did math, art and then rotary, nothing out of the ordinary. I honestly have nothing to post about today. Nothing entertaining happened. I just remember though, IT WAS BACKWARDS DAY. A few people dressed backwards today. Mr. Hammell was even talking backwards! We did our attendance backwards and finished in 17.5 seconds, not that fast but still alright for your first time. However, our second time after lunch recess we just finished 3 milliseconds after 17.5 !!!

F is for French

Today we had Mr. MacNicole (spelling?) as our supply. It was a fun day indeed! T.V and M.R were away, oh they do not know what they have missed. We got to do a french test, and the class was so quiet. Whoever finished early, got to do their cahiers, and we were able to keep working on them, without having to get every page checked as well. He assured that if our normal french teacher broke our necks because of it, he would fix them himself. It made me feel safe with him. As well we got to play dodge ball for DPA. Gr 7 vs gr 8 boys vs gr 8 girls. Too bad TV and MR were away, leaving us only four people on our team. Rest of the day was normal routine, and at the end of the day we did agendas. The following was put up for homework:

Both grades:

  • Read 15 Min's
  • Term 2 torch (F)
  • Backwards day (Remember to do things backwards tomorrow)
  • Milk Order
  • Simile Worksheet

The following is for Grade 8:

  • Coulter Math - (I am unaware as it was not put up on the board... possibly no math)
  • Coulter Science - Unit Test Dec 10
  • Coulter Science - Study Sheet (Optional)
  • Carvalho Geography - Project Dec 10

Woot, all term one homework survivor is finished. Now we all must start a new one for Term 2...yay. Everyone must bring in a new torch for tomorrow, or they will obviously not participate. Last term was a drag, got my torch taken down half way through the term. Oh well, now I can try this term to do better. Remember to bring a torch and to be able to play Homework Survivor.

Special thanks to students that brought in items to support Peru, Mrs. Fantin-Gallo for hosting this event and Mr. Taylor for bringing our donations back to Peru and handing them out in December. World's Aids Day

A fascinating presentation done by the grade 8's today at the good news assembly! Today, the grade 8's from Mrs. Coulter's, Mr. Hammell's and Mr. Carvalho's class did a presentation about world's aids day. I, my self was pretty nervous at first for this presentation, but as it went a long I got used to it. The presentation was fun but yet painful. As my role of the mom, I had to die in one scene and as I fell to the ground I hit my head pretty hard on the stage. I thought that the grade 8's from our class did a great job in the presentation and the kindergartens found it pretty funny. I think that this was a great experience because it required confidence skills and drama/acting skills. Great job grade 8's!

The Successful Fundraiser For Peru!

Boxes over flowing of school supplies and donations for Peru. That's right, today was the day where the "Reach Out" club gathered together at morning recess to pack and sort out the school supplies that we brought in as a school for Peru. I was more than surprised that the primary/junior classes brought in 2 boxes of over flowing school supplies while the intermediates only brought in half a box. As a school, we were more than happy to donate to the less unfortunate kids in Peru. I think that for our very first fundraiser for worldwide was great! Thanks to all the people that brought in items to support the less unfortunate in Peru. The kids in Peru are more than lucky to receive our donations! Intermediates! We must contribute more to the next fundraiser! Remember, we are the leaders of the school!

As you all know, in the reach out club, we do things that make a difference in our school, community and worldwide. It's never too late to join! So if you want to make a difference, join the reach out club!

Rock & Roll program

As you all might know, the " I wanna rock" program is coming up very soon. For those of you who don't know what I wanna rock is, it's a program that requires you to get in a group, write lyrics, and write a music piece to go with it. You also have to make a music video. Whichever group's piece and music video is the best, will get podcasted on CBC news, which is really big. I suggest making your group now, and start writing your piece and music, because if you start to do all that when the people from CBC come, you won't have enough time to finish it when it's due. If you can't think of any lyrics, I suggest you search up a poem, and write music that goes along with it. If you can't find a good poem, don't do what me and my group did last year in grade 7, when we had to write a piece in music class as a project. We couldn't think of a song, so we took a song that already exsists, and played in front of Ms Scalisi. As you can image, we didn't get a very good mark, because Ms Scalisi knew the song we played, and we claimed we wrote it. Do not do that for "I wanna rock", because your piece for sure won't get podcasted. Good luck with your piece!

Ewww, The smell , the look, the feel, it's all horrible. Yea that's right today in science class, after a long 2 week we took out out bread from the cupboard. But it was not just bread, it was bread in a plastic bag, with 1 tablespoon of soil and some water EWWWWW. To top it off we put it in the darkest place possible,in the deep, dark cupboard.
Trust me when i say it it smelled horrible!! I even showed it to Mr. Hammell and he didn't like it at all. But you know whats odd,our Science teacher, Ms.Coulter, Thought it was amazingly fascinating, How freaky is that. Whoever is reading this now, Do not try this at home!

TEST TEST TEST!!!!

Today is the day when all your studying pays off, the day when you know you studied for what is coming up; the DAY! when you know your gonna flunk or maybe even pass!

TODAY . is the day when we have a test its the most horrifying thing in school, its soo testy I

always say when tricky questions come out and you don't no the answer then you Freak!

And you know when you get the feeling that you forget everything wright at the moment the testy test arrives and is sitting right in front of you waiting for the pencil to wright all over the paper hearing the screech of each pencil writing scrambling on the sheets eraser shavings all over your desk.

It is time when your teacher says these awful words "times...up!" you worry and try to finish your last sentence before your teacher comes for you; your teacher walks by slowly reaching out her/his arm, grabs the paper and you slowly shout "nooooooooo......" and then that is when your 24/7 studying pays off but you never no if you actually pasted or if you failed.. we all hope again in our hearts .. never again will this day live..

Ahhh October! is Here!!

Ahhh yes September was great while it lasted.
Now its a whole new month with a whole new life starting today.

October is a great new month to restart what you have done like giving bad additudes or incompleteing your homework and ect.

I'm guessing most kids loveeee October becase of Halloween; Halloween is the time of year when we dress up into anything we want and go to peoples houses and get candy its that easy to do you may think but really for me its exsauahsting to do you have to run to each and every house and ask for candy.
I hope this October we can show Mr.H how great a class we are I hope you all who have done bad changed during these past few days in September!

my favorite part of today was recess , We were sitting on the the ground arguing about who changed!!! T.M. would say:You changed. I would say:I changed...yea OK i changed...NO!

YOU CHANGED!!! and this would continue all recess.

Our Blog Is Born!

Welcome everyone!

This is the first post here on our blog (or "web log"). It will serve three purposes:
1) Provide a paragraph summary of our daily activities and learning
2) List the homework for any students who may be absent
3) Provide extensions to our learning through hyperlinks and webquests

Each of our classmates will take a turn writing the blog.
I look forward to an exciting archive of our year in 7/8H!
